About the school

In this role, you will work collaboratively with a case management focussed team whilst leading student support. The role works across all year levels with case management a key focus.

About the role
The successful candidate will be an efficient and effective person familiar with the systems and processes utilised within the Department of Education to support inclusive education whilst enacting counselling skills. The provision of high levels of support requires the applicant to work closely with staff, parents, students and community groups. An understanding of the QCE, ATAR and career support and pathways would also be highly regarded.

As the Guidance Officer, you will have key responsibility for but not limited to:

Case Management of students
Liaison with providers to support students to have success
Liaise with other internal staff and external agencies to provide support to students for the completion of their academic requirements
Involvement in SET Planning Program and QTAC applications
Management and organisation of events and excursions
Active participant of various teams
Offer counselling with students on a one on one basis or in a group setting assisting the students with specific difficulties or career aspirations.
Liaising with parents, teachers or other health providers as part the counselling process.
Building relationships with appropriate external agencies and keep up to date on the availability of resources for students and Department of Education policy.
Supporting teachers and students in the learning process through developing the emotional and behavioural responses in a classroom setting.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

Teachers working in Education and Care Services (including State Delivered Kindergarten programs) require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services. For more information please CLICK HERE.

AND one of the following:
Completed coursework Masters, majoring in guidance and counselling, or an equivalent completed coursework Masters including study in the areas of psychoeducational assessment, counselling and mental health. OR
General or provisional registration as a psychologist through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board. OR an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited four or five year qualification in psychology that will enable general registration as a psychologist following completion of a board approved internship or accredited sequence of study.
