We’re not just a University of Tasmania, we are a University for Tasmania

Established in 1890, the University of Tasmania is the fourth oldest university in Australia and the only university in the state. The University has a reputation for excellence in learning, teaching and research and undertakes world leading work in a range of fields including important areas of medical research such as dementia and multiple sclerosis, Antarctic and oceanographic research, and agriculture. The University’s vision is to embed itself in the heart of the Tasmanian community, underpinned by the commitment by the University and the State Government to invest in education and raise access and attainment for all Tasmanians.

Alumni of the University of Tasmania are an integral part of the University’s vibrant global family. The University envisions a major step change in its engagement with alumni from 2022 and beyond and is now seeking the appointment of an Associate Director, Alumni Relations who can take this strategic priority forward. Reporting to the Executive Director, Advancement, the Associate Director will lead a small team of skilled professionals to drive and deliver a large and complex portfolio of alumni relations strategies and related activities that foster strong alumni engagement, build loyalty and institutional pride and generate tangible benefits for the University.

The successful candidate will have experience in a comparative role in alumni engagement program management either at leadership level or with aspirations to grow their career to this level of leadership. This experience will have been gained in a large, complex organization, ideally in higher education. The ability to manage and continuously develop a high performing team will be essential. A commitment to the University, its strategic vision and the ability to champion the University of Tasmania to its communities will be fundamental.
