About the role

Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples is an integral part of Southern Cross University and has a pivotal role in offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the discipline of Indigenous Knowledge. Gnibi College is committed to delivering culturally safe, dynamic and innovative courses, providing professional career pathways, and engaging in scholarship and research relevant to the needs of Indigenous Australians.

Our aims are founded on the Gnibi Elders Principles and those of social justice, cultural integrity and inclusion in education, and providing a learning environment that validates an Indigenous cultural framework, affirms Indigenous Knowledge systems and focuses upon theory building and practice innovation.


The appointees will work collegially and innovatively in developing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Indigenous Knowledge disciplines; demonstrate sound scholarly competency and the capacity to work independently in a progressive academic environment.


The appointees will also contribute to the research profile of Gnibi College by actively engaging in research and grant activities.


Senior Lecturer – A remuneration package of up to $163,882 per annum is offered for a Senior Lecturer appointment, inclusive of base salary $121,696-$140,070 per annum and 17% employer contribution to superannuation. 

Lecturer - A remuneration package of up to $138,092 per annum is offered for a Lecturer appointment, inclusive of base salary $99,649-$118,027 per annum and 17% employer's contribution to superannuation.

The successful candidates can negotiate a Gold Coast, Lismore or Coffs Harbour appointment. Relocation support is available for these roles. Part-time appointments may also be negotiable.

About you

These are Indigenous identified positions. Applicants must identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.


You will have a relevant doctoral qualification, or demonstrated significant progress towards completion of a PhD, and proven experience in the use of contemporary educational technologies and success teaching Indigenous Knowledge programs in blended and online environments across a range of practice settings and populations.

Successful applicants will have a publication record reflective of level and opportunity and a proven track record of effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders, Indigenous communities, professional and industry bodies and community groups.
