About us
The Workabout Centre is an innovative, integrated model for connecting Aboriginal young people with pathways that lead to sustainable employment. These include pathways to post-secondary training, higher education and others that lead to successful employment.

The Workabout Centre Coordinator implements mentoring, career counselling, and case management strategies that provides intensive culturally inclusive support to Aboriginal young people throughout secondary schooling into post-school pathways. The Workabout Centre Coordinator works collaboratively with stakeholders to support the career aspirations and pathways to training, employment and higher education for Aboriginal secondary students.

The opportunity
The Workabout Centre Coordinator (Port Lincoln) will join our dynamic team as a coordinator in northern, western and southern Adelaide and Port Lincoln. We are a team of seven based across the state who are committed to supporting Aboriginal young people to achieve SACE and a successful school to work transition.

This is a diverse role which will require you to be proactive in developing key working relationships and an ability to present and communicate across a broad audience, including to Aboriginal students, families, school staff, local industry, training providers and Department leadership.

Essential: Certificate IV or higher in youth work, career development, project management, community services or other relevant field.

In accordance with Section 52(2) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA), applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department of Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. A current DHS child-related employment screening will be recognised as a WWCC until it expires. The incumbent will be required to undertake Responding to Abuse & Neglect (RAN) full day/online training course every three years. For all other Special Conditions please refer to the Role Description.

AEW5 - $91,509 to $98,556 per annum
