Position Information

Nowra High School is located on the South Coast in the Shoalhaven Region. We have 909 students supported by more than 100 teachers and support staff who work collaboratively to provide the best possible educational outcomes for all students.

Nowra High School is a highly successful, comprehensive school with a long history of academic achievement together with cultural and sporting excellence. Our school fosters a strong school spirit, within broad, creative and relevant programs that encourage students from Year 7 to 12 to reach their full potential. Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,
  • Demonstrated success and experience in driving professional learning and developing teacher capacity and leadership to build innovative, challenging and engaging curriculum to maximise student learning outcomes.
  • A highly visible and proactive instructional leader with the capacity to work collaboratively as a member of the school’s executive team to successfully lead initiatives that address the school’s strategic directions and enhance the overall capacity of teachers in varying stages of their careers.
  • Outstanding communication, prioritisation, management and organisational skills and ability to effectively lead the complex day to day operations of the school and maintain and enhance the school’s positive culture amongst staff, students and parents.
  • Demonstrated exceptional capacity to lead and support evidence and data informed practice to meet the needs of the school community.
  • Visible collaborative leadership to enhance student outcomes with an emphasis on high expectations for all students, including Aboriginal students.


General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
