Research Fellow


  • Full time, fixed term position for 12 months
  • Based in Hobart

The School of Social Sciences is part of the College of Arts, Law and Education and is passionate about creating a better world by exploring today’s big questions and supporting the social and economic development of the human race.

The Opportunity

Join the School of Social Sciences in supporting the Australian Research Council’s project ‘A Game Changer?: Women, Alcohol and Australian Sport’.

The Research Fellow will contribute to the project through coordination data analysis and writing to produce research reports, publications and communications based on these findings.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Review relevant literature and undertake data analysis.
  • Conduct qualitative research, including interviews by Zoom .
  • Assist with the writing of high-quality academic papers including the development of progress reports and presentation.
  • Provide general research administrative functions.
  • Assist academic staff with the supervision of PhD project work.

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of the conceptual, theoretical, and contextual understandings of sport and gender, alcohol and gender, and sport and alcohol.
  • Experience conducting qualitative research.
  • Familiarity with NVivo and qualitative data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $125,263 comprising base salary within the range of $98,537 to $114,395 plus 9.5% superannuation.
