  • An opportunity for 2 x Lecturers (Level B) or Senior Lecturers (Level C) to contribute to teaching and research in Occupational Therapy within the Faculty of Medicine and Health
  • Roles working within the School of Health Sciences based at the Susan Wakil Health Building on the Camperdown campus
  • Full time, continuing positions offering a base salary of $108K (Level B) or $133K (Level C) p.a., plus leave loading and generous employer's contribution to superannuation
About the opportunity

The Sydney School of Health Sciences are seeking two academics who are passionate about improving health outcomes and health equity in the local, national and global communities through occupational therapy.

Our ideal candidate is committed to teaching and research, and is ready to contribute within Occupational Therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Faculty of Medicine and Health. As a key Lecturer within the University you will apply your learnings through research and scholarly activity to inform education and research practice. As a Senior Lecturer you will be recognised at a national level for expanding knowledge within Health Sciences.

We envision these roles to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation Medicine and Health while continuing to build research contribution, expertise and impact.

About you

The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for 2 academics at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer levels who:
  • have a PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline
  • are registered or are eligible for registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
  • have a developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in occupational therapy and / or related fields of practice
  • have a demonstrated understanding of Occupational Therapy; scope of practice; and professional competencies required for occupational therapy practice. Expertise will highly valued in the areas of: inpatient, outpatient and / or community based neurorehabilitation, general medical and/or physical rehabilitation; assistive technology and/or environmental modifications
  • have experience in teaching and learning, including demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
  • have a developing network of relationships with academic, consumer / advocacy, industry and / or professional organisations, partners and stakeholders
  • have experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities
  • have a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in occupational therapy and higher education sector
In addition to the above, the Senior Lecturer will:
  • be acknowledged at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge within occupational therapy the discipline and/or in pedagogical or curriculum innovation relating to occupational therapy/ allied health/ health sciences
  • have demonstrated excellence in research, scholarly activities relevant to occupational therapy the discipline and educational design and practice
  • have deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
  • have an established network of relationships with key academic, consumer/advocacy, industry and/or professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the discipline, School/ Faculty and University
  • have an understanding of and ability to support an academic endeavour from curriculum design to producing leading research and providing a student enabling environment
  • have a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector
