In this role, you will be a key leader in the team providing curriculum leadership and the management of Senior syllabus, QCAA processes, VET and transition pathways. About Capella State High School

Capella State High School is located Halfway between Emerald and Clermont just off the Gregory Highway on Gordon St. The school was first established in 1984 and services the local rural and mining communities.

Numbers of Students enrolled at Capella State High School vary depending on the status of the mining industry. The school is currently staffed with 17 teachers and 16 support staff. About 75% of students travel to and from school each day on a bus.

Just over two percent of the student population is indigenous and most of the students' parents are employed in the mining industry or mining related industries.

Your Opportunity

In this role, you will lead a professional learning team reviewing school culture and inclusion in line with school and departmental initiatives and participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division. In addition, in this role, you will be responsible for timetable and supervisions.

The successful applicant will develop the quality of teaching and learning and nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

Your Role

As the Head of Department you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
