Role Type: Full Time Fixed Term

Remuneration: $ 74,999 - $ 106,335 + Superannuation (dependent on experience and qualification)

We are currently seeking an experienced Teacher - Culture and Foundation Language Studies to join our Corrections Education team at the Ravenhall Correctional Centre campus.

The core duties are delivering and assessing the Mumgu Dhal curriculum to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander men at the Centre. Mumgu Dhal enables learners to explore their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity and community and develop or strengthen personal connections. It also enables learners to develop language, literacy and numeracy skills and personal confidence to engage more broadly with society. This role is open to all teachers with a knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous Australian culture.

The teacher appointed to his role will also deliver contextualised units from the Foundation Skills training package. Improving the language, literacy and numeracy capability of men at the Centre is a high priority. Experience in this field or completion of qualifications in the delivery of language, literacy or numeracy will be highly regarded.

Corrections teaching roles are well supported within the Bendigo Kangan Institute. There is a large experienced teaching team located at the Ravenhall campus with students willing to be engaged

Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or (TAE40110) including Design & Develop Assessment tools (TAEASS502) and address Adult language, literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills (TAELLN411) (TAELLN401A).
  • Completion of/or willingness to obtain TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set.
  • A graduate or postgraduate qualification in teaching language, literacy or numeracy will be highly regarded.
  • Documented professional development or a qualification in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cultures will be highly regarded.
