JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Information

Bella Vista Public School opened in 2019 with a capacity for 1000 students from K to Year 6. In 2021 the school has four support classes for students with disability (MC) and an enrolment of 610 students.

Bella Vista Public School incorporates an innovative educational model, including flexible teaching and learning spaces organised into distinct 'home bases' alongside modern specialist teaching spaces. Current priorities of the school include literacy and numeracy excellence, innovative teaching, student well-being and school culture.

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach Infants and/or Primary with a deep understanding of current evidence-based research in effective instructional leadership and data analysis to drive effective whole school literacy and numeracy programs.

Evidence of highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work in collaborative teams and build relationships to engage students, parents and the wider community.

Evidence of innovation in embedding and leading teaching and learning principles into home base practice across the school.

High level capacity to lead diverse teacher teams in order to develop a clear vision and build and strengthen a collaborative learning culture.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
