Drama Teacher Area Manager

Super Speak is a well established & growing Melbourne based education company that delivers a fun & educational public speaking & drama program to children across Melbourne & Australia.

Super Speak has been trusted by over 50,000 students since 2006. Through our award-winning curriculum, fun approach to learning and passionate teaching team, we help children improve their communication skills & confidence for life.

Join our talented team who deliver the program to children across 15 Melbourne venues each week and across Australia online.

We have an exciting opportunity for an additional Drama Teacher Area Manager to join our management team.

The contact hours will be between 0.7 permanent part time to full time - whatever suits the successful candidate.

As Area Manager, you will report to the principal and be responsible for the management of either our South/East Melbourne territory or our North/West Melbourne territory which consist of approximately 6-8 venues each (whichever suits your location).

Time is split between attending & managing venues and teachers across your territory and working from our Malvern East office. If you live in the Western or Northern suburbs, a flexible work-from-home & work-from-office arrangement can be discussed if desired.

This is a hands-on & varied role with opportunity to add value including taking part in the strategic development of Super Speak as we continue to grow.

The role consists of:

  • Venue & class operational management
  • Teacher management & development
  • Teaching
  • Office support & administration
  • Enrolment management
  • Teacher & parent communication
  • Curriculum development

You are passionate and experienced in teaching either drama, speech & drama, primary education or performing arts to children.

You may be one of the below:

  • a primary teacher, secondary teacher or drama / performing arts teacher seeking a change away from the schooling system into a more entrepreneurial, hands-on and practical role; or
  • a performer or actor with teaching experience looking to make a change away from performing and into a more stable long term employment opportunity; or
  • someone with experience teaching children aged 6-14; or
  • someone with a natural aptitude for teaching with experience attending drama, performing arts or speech & drama classes through your teen years

You will have flexibility with when you work each week to reflect the needs of your territory. For example, for weeks that you need to be at your venues, you will spend more time attending your venues in the afternoon/evenings and will work less time in the office. For other weeks when your venues & teachers are settled, you will spend more time in the office during business hours and less time at the venues.

You will be comfortable being “hands-on” to ensure your territory is operating smoothly and that your teachers are well supported. You will travel between your venues within your territory as required.

As well as the above, you will be someone that:

  • has a fun, professional nature and able to relate well to children and parents
  • has excellent verbal communication skills, organizational skills and a “can do” attitude
  • is self motivated with a history of exceeding expectations
  • prides themselves on their work ethic, reliability and punctuality
  • has a current Work With Children Check card or a VIT registration
  • has a reliable car & driver’s license
  • has a proficiency in Microsoft word & a professional phone manner

It is desirable but not essential for you to have a tertiary qualification (either arts, performance or teaching) or an equivalent professional experience or significant other training – ie. in speech & drama, acting or drama schooling throughout teen years.

Please only apply for this role if you have the view of being able to work at Super Speak for at least 3 years

In addition to the opportunity to enjoy a diverse and rewarding management role in a well establish, down-to-earth and growing company, you will enjoy:

  • Full training, support & opportunities to develop new skills
  • A positive & friendly work environment. Work along side our talented teachers and management team
  • A rewarding role where you will have a real impact on the development of our students and our teaching team
  • An attractive salary package reflecting your experience
  • Development opportunities into more senior appointments over time if desired & appropriate

To express your interest in joining our team, please email your resume, cover letter, phone number and residential address to info@superspeak.com.au. Please demonstrate your attention to detail by ensuring your cover letter is in the body of the email (not as an attachment).

Thank you
