Are you looking for a Psychology and Counselling role that will contribute to a diverse community? TAFE NSW is looking for Counsellors to join the TAFE Counselling team on a casual basis at Design Centre Enmore & Petersham TAFE NSW campus.

The Opportunity 

Based at Petersham & Design Centre Enmore TAFE NSW campus, the TAFE Counsellors are responsible for providing educational and vocational counselling for intending and enrolled students, and also personal counselling for enrolled students within TAFE NSW.

The role will utilise your high standard of professional practice; your ability to work independently; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; well-developed time management and organisational skills; & computer proficiency. This role will deliver counselling support to students who may be participating in courses on campus or through connected delivery so a capacity and interest in providing counselling services across face to face and telepractice modalities would be beneficial. At Petersham & Enmore you may also have an opportunity to administer psychometric assessments. TAFE Counsellors also work in partnership with TAFE Disability teams and provide assessment and counselling services for students with disabilities. 

This is a casual position, and working days/hours can be negotiated with successful candidates.

To be successful in this role you will have 

  • Registered psychologist or provisionally registered psychologist or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Recognised degree with an appropriate major in Psychology in an APAC accredited course.
  • 2 years relevant and recent counselling experience, in personal counselling AND vocational and/or educational counselling OR postgraduate qualifications in related counselling areas 
  • Knowledge of NSW secondary and post-secondary education/training systems 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, liaison and interpersonal skills to support students and staff members
  •  Experience delivering counselling services via face to face and telepractice methods, especially for young people with mental health problems
  • Prepared to develop a knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
