The Opportunity

As a Research Associate your work will entail designing, implementing, and evaluating indoor localisation systems based on networked emergency lights in smart buildings. You will have the opportunity to take a leading role in the conception, design and conduction of experiments determining the effectiveness and usability of the Internet of Things (IoT) systems based on glasshouse indoor farming facilities.

The Research Associate will report to Professor Wen Wu and has no direct reports.

  • Level A - Salary, $97,368 to $104,143 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed-term contract – 24 months
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Selection Criteria

  • PhD (or soon to be awarded) in computer science, electrical engineering or related area.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications in top-rated venues such as ACM/IEEE IPSN and ACM SenSys.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders, external clients and students.
  • Proven hands-on implementation experience with the Internet of Things
  • Demonstrated experience with supervising Honours, Masters and/or PhD students
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
