The Role
Epworth is an innovator in Australia’s health system, embracing the latest in evidence-based medicine to pioneer treatments and services for our patients. The Group Research Director & Chief Research Officer role is a newly created position that will provide clinical leadership of the Epworth research program. With support of the Group Manager Research Operations you will work to ensure that all research centres and programs across the organisation are developed and managed in a consistent and coordinated manner, measured using agreed performance indicators, and meet mandatory regulatory requirements. As a high-profile ambassador for Epworth Research, you will lead in promotion of the research program and dissemination of successes.

You will make an impact by:

  • providing strategic direction and support to research centre leaders, and development of a high performing team of research Centre Directors
  • bringing together a cohesive group of research Centre Directors, to grow and support a culture of continuous improvement and research excellence
  • providing high level clinical and scientific strategic input, guidance and insights to ensure that the Epworth research portfolio is consistent with the Epworth research and corporate strategies
  • leading in the promotion of all research and communication of successes

To be successful in this role…

You will be a great communicator, with a vision and passion for research, an empathetic and supportive approach, and an ability to build strong productive relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders.

You will have

  • a consultative leadership style with the ability to influence at senior management level and act as a role model for professional leadership
  • demonstrated leadership initiative, motivation and self-confidence with the capacity to communicate vision and set clear strategic directions for stakeholders
  • at least 10 years experience in a hospital setting
  • experience in leading, coaching and managing research leaders and staff to ensure they are developing and delivering to their full potential
  • capacity to present Epworth HealthCare in a strong and positive manner to all stakeholders
