Full Job Description
The Student Engagement Officer is the first point of contact for proactive outbound engagement campaigns aimed at increasing the connectedness of current students. Student engagement will be through a range of communication channels (face-to-face, phone, SMS, email) at pre-defined points during their course at Chisholm.

The Student Engagement Officer will augment the retention effort of professional educators by proactively raising the awareness of support services available to the student cohort. Through a multi-channel approach, this role will keep students engaged, documenting key insights and act as a referral service for students who require access to services or additional support.

Your key accountabilities will be to:
Confidently engage with students via telephone, email, face-to-face and social media to optimise engagement and widely promote our activities and services to students as they commence their study program through a combination of orientation presentations and digital communication channels.
Establish communication channels with all students that creates an effective link between the student and support network/services within the Institute.
Ensure that all commencing students are contacted in a timely manner as defined by the overall campaign framework.
Gauge the level of student understanding and identify early at-risk indicators.
Track the engagement levels of specific student cohorts e.g. returning to study, disability registered, students with lower literacy and/or numeracy levels.
Assist specialist staff to promote and administer targeted workshops and additional services to our student cohort.


You will have a relevant diploma in a customer service, community service or related field or equivalent student engagement experience. Experience engaging with post-secondary students would be desirable.

Crucial to your success will be your highly developed oral and written communication skills specifically in writing reports and instructions, or providing guidance and your good interpersonal skills, building rapport and conflict negotiation skills.

Previous experience working within the vocational education sector and experience in dealing with non-native English speakers from diverse backgrounds would be looked upon favourably.

With a flexible working style, you will have strong analytical capabilities, organisational skills, high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
