The partnership has created an unparalleled centre of national and international research excellence where research results in real-world improvements in cancer control.

We are seeking two Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join the team at the Daffodil Centre. For these career-launching roles, we would like to hear from early career researchers with a public health or health-related background and a strong research track record relative to opportunity. We are interested in candidates with disciplinary expertise in any of the following fields; advanced epidemiology, applied mathematics, biostatistics, cancer nursing, computational sciences, consumer engagement research, epidemiological modelling, health economics, health services research, implementation and behavioural science, public health, or supportive care research, with applicants from these fields bringing expertise at a general population level or with a specific focus on cancer, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, Indigenous research, or on global health.

Mentoring and career development opportunities will be provided.

About you

  • has submitted or been awarded their PhD within the past 3 years (accounting for career disruption) in one of the above-mentioned disciplines
  • demonstrates experience working with population level data
  • is seeking to develop their career as an independent researcher and obtain research funding.

Please include a cover letter with your application, outlining how you will contribute to the design, conduct, analysis and reporting of high-quality, real world-impact cancer control research with multi-disciplinary academics, clinicians, policymakers, consumers and other stakeholders aligned to one of the following four research hubs.

Research Hubs

Optimising prevention, screening and early detection of cancer

Aims to determine or develop the most effective cancer control interventions, public health programs, and optimal care pathways.

Improving outcomes for people at high risk of cancer

Aims to strengthen approaches to cancer control and improve management in people of higher risk of cancer via prevention, detection, and surveillance.

Strengthening quality of life for people with cancer

Aims to improve outcomes for people affected by cancer by developing evidence for and enabling the translation of better approaches to the management of cancer outcomes, survivorship, and psychosocial support.

Advancing research and modelling methods

Aims to strengthen modelling, epidemiological, biostatistical, and other research methods via strong methodological skills in study design and observational studies, and strong analytical skills, including handling confounding variables etc.

Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University. Similarly your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements. If you do not meet these conditions, the University may take any necessary step, including the termination of your employment.
