This position sits within our Community Services, Sport and Recreation department who aim to build connected, creative, healthy and active local communities and enhance the lifestyle that residents of the Moreton Bay Region enjoy. This is achieved through the provision of support to community organisations; delivery of activities for residents; provision of community meeting and activity spaces; development of polices and plans; provision of early education services from Birralee Child Care Centre; and participation in Council's response to, and recovery from disaster events. The Department employs approximately 81 positions and manages an annual operational budget of approximately $13.3M.

  • Bachelor Public Policy
Or are you studying towards a degree that involves community facilities planning, built and cultural heritage or access and inclusion?

The opportunity presents for a dedicated and enthusiastic student to join our Community Facilities Planning Team at Moreton Bay Regional Council. As a University Student, you will be a valued team member who provides general administrative and operational support and assistance to the team.

You could find yourself working in an organisation in which your initiative and willingness to have a go will see you gain valuable skills which will complement the theory you're learning at university. You will work alongside experienced professionals and receive training from an industry leader in a fast-paced environment, whilst gaining experience in a practical position within your own community.

The position is flexible and may consist of part time or full time work, dependent upon your study needs, with a minimum requirement of 3 full working days.

About you

We're looking for friendly, reliable and motivated individuals who are energetic and can positively contribute to our team. You will be an avid learner with a passion in your field of study and will enjoy learning in a fast-faced environment.

Ideal candidates will be team players that can demonstrate initiative and our values, with well-developed communication and literacy skills. They will have some customer service experience and enjoy undertaking research and data analysis.

You must be able to work a minimum three full working days throughout the week and be enrolled into a university degree to apply.

Term: Maximum Term - 12 months
Award/Level: Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 1 of the Moreton Bay Regional Council EBA4 Certified Agreement
Location: Strathpine
Package: $29.86 per hour + superannuation (up to 12%) + leave loading
