SENIOR OPERATIONAL POLICY OFFICER – PETROLEUM REGULATION

  • $101,120 - $122,348 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term to 30 June 2022
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Morwell (flexibility may be available)
Reporting to the Manager, Strategy and Operational Policy, you will be responsible for preparing Earth Resources Regulation's operating policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures, work instructions, web page content and related documentation for the regulation of petroleum operations and other earth resources sites.

The key accountabilities of the role include:
  • Prepare Earth Resource Regulation's operational policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures, Codes of Practice, web page content and work instructions for petroleum operations.
  • Develop, review and maintain Instruments of Delegation under the Petroleum Act 1998 and associated regulations.
  • Prepare high level advice, briefings and correspondence regarding the regulation of petroleum operations.
  • Deliver training for the adoption of the operating policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Evaluate the adoption of policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures and work instructions for petroleum operations and other functions of the regulator.
  • Develop and maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Attend and participate in regulatory forums and committees.
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in preparing policies, strategies and/or operating procedures, preferable in a natural resources context along with planning, leading, managing and delivering complex projects. If you possess sound conceptual and analytical skills as well as proven stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively, then this could be the position for you.

The position of Senior Operational Policy Officer – Petroleum Regulation forms a part of the Resources branch within the Rural and Regional Policy group.

The Resources Branch develops policy, programs and regulation to enable investment and generate jobs through the sustainable development of the State's earth resources, including extractives, minerals and petroleum.
