Full Job Description
As an AccessAbility Adviser, you will be responsible for the assessment, delivery, coordination and administration of services to students with whom the University is required to negotiate reasonable adjustments under relevant State and Commonwealth legislation. AccessAbility Services works with all Swinburne students, including Higher Education (HE), Pathways and Vocational Education (PAVE), Swinburne Online (SOL), and Open Universities Australia (OUA).

Reporting to the Team Leader, AccessAbility Services, this position is responsible for liaison with a wide range of university academic and administrative staff, with external agency providers of services and with the community to ensure the provision of an effective and efficient service within available resources. You will negotiate and monitor reasonable adjustments with students that enable and facilitate access to and participation in tertiary study, that enhance educational opportunity and encourage positive graduate outcomes.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • A relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience and / or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation pertaining to the rights of people living with disability and the responsibilities of educational institutions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of clientele, to negotiate on disability support or reasonable adjustment issues and to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
