This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, part-time (0.3 FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2021 with possible extension and/or permanency

Rossmoyne Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Music Teacher to deliver classroom music lessons to students across the school.

The successful applicant will be committed to excellence and have the ability to maintain a positive classroom learning environment. They will be flexible and adaptive in their approach and be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching within the context of the role.

An ability to teach Classical Music across all year levels, from Years 7–9, and experience working with Gifted and Talented students will be highly regarded.

Rossmoyne SHS is home to a Specialist Classical Music Program, and all students learn through Kodaly-inspired methodology, including “moveable doh” solfege. The successful applicant will be well-acquainted with classical music repertoire, and committed to teaching high level aural skills, music theory and music literacy through the moveable doh system. An ability to integrate learning through both singing and instrumental performance will be highly regarded.

The successful applicant will ideally show awareness and experience of:

  • An integrated approach to programming, assessing, communicating with parents and reporting.
  • Ability to navigate the use of SEQTA as the primary platform for the above.
  • Kodaly-inspired classroom music curriculum at the lower secondary level would be highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
  • Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING

Employees will be required to:
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
