Your new role

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Project Coordinator, with outstanding interpersonal skills to join our Research team. Help develop and implement a work plan to support and accelerate the University’s sustainability research strategy. This 12-month fixed term contract offers you the chance to use your knowledge of sustainability and project management to drive this role, leading to potential future career development opportunities.

In this role you will support and coordinate the development of the research component of Curtin University’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Plan. You will focus on understanding the University’s Research Portfolio and current capabilities to define a framework to drive the University’s sustainability goals. You will liaise with the areas of Learning & Student Experience, and Properties, Facilities & Development (PF&D) to ensure an overarching SDG framework, implementation plan and initial data gathering is integrated across the university.

In this role you will

  • Analyse the University/Faculty SDG-related activities, including collection of data, documenting/mapping existing activities and exploring future capability and areas of focus.
  • Actively engage with the researchers and support functions to map activities and evaluate options to align the research portfolio to the SDGs.
  • Liaise with Curtin areas of Teaching and Student Experience and Properties, Facilities and Development (PF&D) to help assist in defining, analysing, planning, evolving and documenting the University’s Sustainable Development Goals Plan.
  • Facilitate engagement between the Research Office at Curtin, Learning & Student Experience and Properties, Facilities and Development (PF&D) stakeholders and working groups.
  • Provide project coordination support for relevant stakeholders and working groups - coordinate briefings, meetings, roundtables, seeking input from internal stakeholders preparing briefings, managing communications and preparing updates and minutes.
  • Gather and maintain data and trend information relating to the University sector Sustainability Plans and activities.

We are looking for someone with

  • A tertiary degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Project Management, or similar with extensive experience in the area of stakeholder engagement and project coordination.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Well-developed coordination skills and the ability to meet deadlines and work objectives.
  • The ability to formulate reports and documents that clearly and effectively address complex issues.
  • Strong ability to build collaborative and consultative relationships.
  • Highly developed problem solving, critical thinking, negotiation and facilitation skills and the ability to build collaborative and consultative relationships with stakeholders and cross-disciplinary teams.
  • High level written and presentation skills with demonstrated experience in developing briefings and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a large multifunctional team environment.
  • Demonstrated resilience and the ability to cope effectively with pressure and sustain high levels of effort and energy together with the ability to accept changes in priorities and adapt quickly to the changes.
