About the role:

The Learning Support Worker assists in the provision of learning support services to students with disability or a health condition by:

1. Supporting individual students in class to participate, interact, learn and work towards positive educational outcomes

2. Accommodating individual learning styles and needs in a way that supports empowerment and independence

3. Contributing to a high quality and safe learning experience for students

Your Skills and Qualifications:


• A Certificate III in Education Support (Integration Aide/Teacher Aide), a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or a Certificate IV in Disability is preferred and/or equivalent knowledge and experience

• A current First Aid Level 2 Certificate, Mental Health First Aid training and Safe Food Handling Certificate is desirable

Expertise Requirements

1. Vocational Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, the needs of people with disability and of the values and legislative framework that inform quality disability support services in an educational setting. An understanding of, or willingness to learn, how to support students in a professional and respectful manner.

2. Written and Verbal Communication: Communicates effectively using a polite and considerate manner when dealing with others. Expresses ideas and information clearly and listens to feedback. Takes well-organised notes with the use of correct spelling and grammar.

3. Computer Skills: Understands the purpose of, and is able to use common applications such as Microsoft Office products for document preparation and email. Able to distinguish and transfer files between network and local drives. Able to or have interest in broadening computing experience in the use of assistive technology and digital learning technologies.

4. Client-Centricity: Listens to students and actively seeks to meet their needs. Seeks ways to improve service delivery to meet individual needs and is committed to delivering high quality outcomes for students.

You will need to provide or be willing to obtain a current National Police Records Check, a Working with Children Check, evidence of your entitlement to work in Australia, and certified copies of your qualifications.
