The Queensland Cerebral Palsy and Rehabilitation Research Centre

The Queensland Cerebral Palsy and Rehabilitation Research Centre (QCPRRC) is a research centre within UQ’s Faculty of Medicine, and a research program for the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation situated within the Queensland Children’s Hospital. The QCPRRC is also the lead centre for an NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence for the Australasian Cerebral Palsy Clinical Trials Network (https://cre-auscpctn.centre.uq.edu.au/).

QCPRRC’s mission is to advance the health of children with cerebral palsy and related disabilities, supporting them and their families across their lifespan. It is closely linked with clinical services provided at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, providing research leadership to the state-wide Queensland Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (QPRS) and the Queensland Children’s Motion Analysis Laboratory (QCMAL).

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Research Operations Coordinator to support the strategic growth of QCPRRC by facilitating and coordinating activities aimed at achieving QCPRRC’s mission in providing better health outcomes for children and families of CP.

Primarily you will be responsible for managing budget accounts, assisting with various reporting requirements of funding bodies, providing documentation and compliance to Human Research Ethics Committees and governance offices, and supporting the team to promote research activities at QCPRRC.

General duties and responsibilities also include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide day-to-day operational management to the Centre, working closely with central functional teams ranging from human resources, OH&S, finance etc.
  • Liaise with the Program Manager, investigators, research students and University research administration to ensure all deliverables and milestones are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Advise on establishing all research regulatory and governance for projects within the Centre, including but not limited to all national and international ethics (new submissions, amendments), governance and research agreements.

This position is based at the Centre for Children’s Health Research next to the Queensland Children’s Hospital, South Brisbane.

Our Ideal Candidate

Alongside Tertiary qualifications in health sciences (or other relevant disciplines); or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training, we are seeking candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Well-developed skills in project and team operations management, including managing budgets, HR matters, and clinical research ethics and legal governance.
  • Understanding of structure, operations and OH&S policies and regulations of a tertiary education environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team with competing timelines.
  • Understanding of higher education research funding environment and processes.
  • Broad understand of Queensland Health organisational structure and operational processes; or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire such information.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, 12-month fixed term position at HEW Level 7.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,763 - $96,783, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $103,852 - $113,236.
