Duties

English as an Additionl Language (EAL) is a state-wide collaborative service that provides educational support to students, families and their schools. Building capacity in schools and helping students to acquire English is the primary purpose of the service. Some EAL students have experienced trauma, particularly those from refugee backgrounds, which may impact on their learning.

Period of Appointment

Ongoing - Start date of 17 May 2021

Hours per fortnight

45.60 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

A degree in social work from a university, Institute of Technology or College of Advanced Education or an equivalent award from a recognised overseas institution.
The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.
Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employment).

Desirable Requirements

Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
A current driver's licence
