About the Centre

Greater Dandenong Leisure Facilities are looking for dedicated Swim Teachers who share our enthusiasm for swimming, passion for water safety and take pride in helping our members learn to swim and survive. We need dedicated teachers who are committed to the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. YMCA Swim Teachers are an essential component in the delivery of YMCA Swimming Lessons, which run morning, school hours, evening & weekends.

Greater Dandenong Leisure Facilities comprises of two Aquatic & Recreation facilities including Dandenong Oasis & Noble Park Aquatic Centre.

Our pools are available for lap swimming, aqua aerobics classes, swimming lessons and general water play. All our aquatic areas are patrolled by qualified lifeguards.

About the Role

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Enjoy working with children.
Ability to work as an active team member, efficient customer service, friendly mannerism, punctual, reliable, trustworthy and commitment to shifts.
Qualified swim teacher.
Must have own transport.

Must be available to work a variety of shifts:
Evenings between 4pm-7pm Mon-Fri
Mornings between 9.00am-12.00pm Mon-Fri
Weekends between 9.00am-12.30pm Sat & Sun
School Hours between 9.30am-2.30pm Mon-Fri
Can work during School Holidays where required.
Teaching experience preferred.

Qualifications

Mandatory Pre-Requisite Qualifications

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation or equivalent
Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety

Other Desired Qualifications

AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infants and Preschool Aquatics
AUSTSWIM Teacher Developing Competitive Strokes or equivalent
AUSTSWIM Teacher of Aquatics - Access and Inclusion
AUSTSWIM Teacher of Adults
HLTFA301B Apply First Aid or equivalent

YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • a national criminal history check;
  • an international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
  • holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws;
  • ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
  • Two reference checks.
Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
