About the Role

Ensure the provision of a quality service that is responsive to the needs of children and families using the service. The team leader will consistently demonstrate a high standard of practice, team work and excellent communication skills. Strong leadership qualities are required to effectively supervise and guide team members, trainees and professional support staff. Proven understanding of the National Quality Framework and actively support children's contribution to a play based learning environment that encourages and respects children's interests, strengths and abilities.

Ensure team members and yourself work in accordance with the requirements of the Children
Develop, implement and evaluate play based education curriculum based on contemporary early childhood theory and best practice that provides engaging learning and development of each child
Lead the creation and maintenance of a friendly, secure and stimulating interactive learning environment to foster development of children's learning and achieve learning outcomes
Lead engagement with children and model a high standard of practice at all times
Actively ensure hygienic handling of food and equipment and food safety procedures are followed at all times
Be responsible and provide direction for food preparation, cleaning, or general maintenance
Lead effective and positive communication both verbally and written, in order to build relationships with colleagues and families and produce high quality documentation supporting children's learning
Respond appropriately and in a timely manner to the needs of families and encourage their involvement in the program,
Direct and supervise team members up to Diploma level, including trainees
Ensure you are, and support team members to be, flexible and responsive with centre requirements, room allocations, shift times and the organisation's service needs
Respect the rights and dignity of children at all times
Commitment to ongoing professional development for all team members and maintain self-directed professional development
Lead and support team members to actively contribute to Story Park and other documentation as required and ensure team members are contributing appropriately and in a timely manner
Ensure Communities@Work documentation guidelines and expectations are adhered to.

Skills and Experience

Passion for working with children
Dedicated and motivated
Excellent communication skills (both spoken and written)
Excellent work ethic and professionalism
Dip0loma of Children's Services or equivalent Australian recognised qualification
Excellent understanding of current Early Childhood theory, curriculum planning and Early Years Learning Framework
'Working with Vulnerable People' registration, or willingness and ability to obtain.
