This is for two (2) permanent part-time (0.7FTE) positions, both commencing in Term 3, 2021

Pannawonica Primary School is seeking two enthusiastic and passionate Deputy Principals to join our friendly leadership team.

There are currently two positions available (Please identify which position you will be applying for on your 2 page statement.):

1 x Deputy Principal – Primary

1 x Deputy Principal – Secondary & Student Services

In collaboration with the Principal and other members of the leadership team, the Deputy Principal assists with the facilitation of workforce effectiveness in leading and motivating staff in planning directed at improving outcomes for students and the level of service delivered by the school. Through participative decision-making they will contribute to developing the School Plan, including assisting in developing policy and establishing and maintaining systems.

Deputy Principal – Primary

Alongside a varied management portfolio, the Deputy Principal: Primary will be required to:

  • Work collaboratively with town-based service providers and community groups within the 0-5-year-old space to achieved planned outcomes as part of our Early Years Committee
  • Work collaboratively with our Kindergarten to Year 4 staff to ensure minimal curriculum variation across the primary school in regards to our whole-school approaches
  • Work collaboratively with staff to lead the implementation of Initial-Lit & Spell-it across the primary school
Deputy Principal – Secondary & Student Services

Alongside a varied management portfolio, the Deputy Principal: Secondary & Student Services will be required to:
  • Work collaboratively with our Year 7-12 staff to identify and implement a common pedagogical framework
  • Work collaboratively with Year 5/6 staff to ensure minimal curriculum variation and ensure an effective transition program for our upper primary students
  • Lead a responsive Student Services team including the line management of student services staff to ensure the needs of all students are met
Being a small and remote community, there is a strong focus on collaboration and communication both within the school and the town. Upholding and supporting the school’s strong culture is a key requirement of this position.

The school adopts a 'whole of staff' approach and sees all staff involved in school planning, school activities and professional development.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING

Employees will be required to:
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
