Child Care Centre Cook | KU Faulconbridge

The Centre

KU Faulconbridge Children's Centre located in the beautiful Blue Mountains offers a purpose-built long day care service for children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years old. Designed by Architect, Graeme Butler, the centre offers an excellent learning environment for young children, with specifically designed indoor play spaces and a large outdoor play area. The site has ample staff parking.

The Role

KU Faulconbridge are looking for a qualified cook to create nutritious meals on a part time basis.

Duties include:

  • Managing the kitchen
  • Ordering of stock (from preferred suppliers of fruit, vegetables and groceries)
  • Planning and preparing all menus from scratch
  • Assisting in small group experiences with the children and introducing them to the wonderful world of cooking
  • Ensuring health and safety are always maintained at a high standard, meeting council health audits
The ideal applicant would have similar experience working as a cook in a Long Day Care setting, preparing meals that cater for varying diets and special food requirements of children as well as an interest in sustainable practices; growing, harvesting and preparing food grown at the centre.

An interest in cooking with children and educators and sharing skills and knowledge to enhance the educational program is highly desirable.

On offer is a permanent part time opportunity, which will see you working 5 hours each day Monday to Friday - with flexibility around the agreed start time of either 8am or 8:30am.

To be considered for this role, it is essential you:
  • Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a NSW Working with Children Check
  • Be a passionate cook who loves instilling a passion for food in young people
