About us:

The Office of the Vice President, People and Services has executive responsibility for the University’s people strategies, information technology, WHS, business intelligence and reporting, and non-academic campus services.

The portfolio includes U@MQ, a controlled entity of Macquarie University known as Campus Life. Campus Life is a seven-days’ a week operation, providing a suite of services and programs to students, staff, visitors, and local community designed to “bring life to our campus” and provide a balance between academic and non-academic amenities.

The role:

Reporting to the Accommodation Program Manager, this position will assist with the development and management of programs and events designed to foster engagement, personal and academic growth, and respect and responsibility among residential students. Due to the nature of this role, there maybe be a requirement for work to be performed after hours and some weekends.

Essential Criteria

  • A relevant degree or substantial relevant knowledge relevant to this role, gained through any combination of education, training and experience and experience working in a University or academic setting
  • Experience leading, coaching and mentoring a diverse team in the activation of residential programs
  • Demonstrated experience as a residential and/or community coordinator with a working understanding of the community and connection expectations of a diverse student groups in on campus residential living.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills as well as a positive attitude , with the ability to engage and relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, budget and deliver engaging community programs, activities, and initiatives for undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Demonstrated initiative in problem solving, being receptive and open to new ideas and can adjust and respond accordingly.
  • Demonstrated exceptional administrative, planning and organisational skills with ability to multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of stakeholder dynamics and the ability to work collaboratively and productively with diverse groups, including managing and resolving conflict
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills including MS Office
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
