Full-time, ongoing position during term time, commencing Term 3, 2021.

Use your passion for nursing to support the development and well-being of young people and provide care for the Melbourne Grammar School community. Based in the Health Centre at the School's South Yarra campus, the School Nurse lives on-site and provides 24/7 nursing care and advice to students, staff and visitors to the School on a rostered basis.

  • An experienced and energetic Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  • Level 2 First Aid would be considered an advantage in this role
  • An integral member of the Boarding community with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to young people and their families
  • Someone with experience with common adolescent health conditions and illnesses
  • A team player with the ability to handle critical incidents in an efficient and responsive manner

Context of the role

This is a residential position for a Registered Nurse (Division 1), who will be provided with private accommodation alongside the Boarding House complex and Health Centre at Melbourne Grammar School. The Health Centre is located very close to the School’s South Yarra campus and provides 24/7 nursing care during term time, with coverage being provided on a roster basis (including on-site and on-call) by the School Nurse-In-Charge, School Nurse and non-residential nursing staff.

Boarding is an important part of life at Melbourne Grammar School. The boarding precinct centres on three renovated Victorian houses which provide modern, purpose-built student accommodation to 120 boys from Years 7 to 12; Creswick House for Years 7 and 8 and Perry and School Houses for boys in Years 9 to 12.

Application essentials
  • Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Previous paediatric experience will be considered an advantage
  • Senior First Aid or Advanced First Aid Certificate (preferred)
  • Must hold, or be willing to obtain, a valid Employee Working with Children Check
