Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative

Join a team of passionate researchers and scientists and investigate the role of the cell membrane in synthetic auxin herbicide resistance by analysing the functions and interaction partners of candidate resistance proteins
Full time, fixed term appointment until the end of 2023
Salary range: Level A, $ $72,780 - $97,946 p.a. plus superannuation

About the team

The Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative (AHRI) is a grant-funded multi-disciplinary research and communication team established by the Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC) to focus on the herbicide resistance and weed challenge to Australian grain crop production.

AHRI is a research group working in partnership with the farming community and industry to develop programs targeting herbicide resistance and to disseminate resistance control messages to encourage sustainable cropping across Australia.

About the opportunity

As the appointee, you will have the responsibility of undertaking research activities that will be focused on the physiological, biochemical and molecular basis of herbicide resistance.

Working closely with other researchers and academic staff, you will conduct and coordinate research experiences and activities and interpret results. You will also provide updates to linkage partners and members who are based in the eastern states.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
Relevant degree and post graduate qualification in molecular science or biochemistry or related discipline
Relevant laboratory experience in biochemistry (proteomics; binding and pharmacological studies) and/or molecular biology (gene expression and sequencing)
Experience and willingness to supervise students and staff in herbicide resistance biochemistry and molecular analysis
Proficiency in a range of computing skills such as spreadsheets, databases, and statistics
