The Digital and Technology Services (DTS) team at Curtin provide the enterprise digital platforms that support Curtin’s students and staff. The DTS team is full steam ahead on building modern technology platforms, working with stakeholders to define the digital future for Curtin University.

Your new role

In this a 9 month fixed-term contract role, you will be part of the IT Server Infrastructure team where you will be responsible for supporting the University’s production enterprise databases. These databases are a mix of Oracle RAC and standalone instances.

In this role you will

Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents.
Monitor and resolve database performance problems.
Assist clients in diagnosing and resolving database connectivity.
Monitor and resolve backup issues.
Perform user account administration tasks.
Duplication of production environments to test.
Assist in database auditing queries
Assist teams with data extraction , transformation and loading
Assist integrations team in setting up and resolving issues particularly with Materialized views and Advanced Queues

Here’s what we’re looking for

Completion of a degree with subsequent relevant work experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated knowledge and competence in maintaining enterprise-class Oracle RAC infrastructure, including capacity management and service continuity planning.
Strong experience supporting a large scale production database environment.
Advanced conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, along with proven ability to interact professionally with clients.
Proven organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks and ensure deadlines are met.
Capability to work effectively autonomously as well as collaboratively within a large and diverse team.
