Faculty of Medicine

The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Medicine (FoM) is an internationally recognised provider of world-class education and research and offers Australia’s largest medical degree program for graduates and school-leavers. Undergraduate and postgraduate programs are available in the disciplines of Medicine, Health Sciences, E-Health, Mental Health, Biomedical Sciences and Public Health.

The Faculty possesses enormous strengths spanning research, teaching, industry engagement and clinical practice in disciplines ranging from the basic sciences, biomedical research and development, to clinical trials and public health.

Educational offerings in biomedical sciences, medicine and public health are informed and supported by research activity across a range of fundamental and clinical areas of importance including recognised strengths in cancer, skin diseases, brain and mental health, maternal and child health and genomics.

About This Opportunity

As the first point of enquiry within the FoM offices, the successful applicant will be primarily responsible for providing efficient, accurate, friendly and professional front counter and telephone service to students, staff and the general public.

General duties and responsibilities also include, but are not limited to:

Enhance the student experience by providing high quality customer services including enquiry management, appointment scheduling, etc;
Answer front counter, email and telephone enquiries from current and prospective students, staff and the general public, providing advice or redirecting to alternative staff as appropriate;
Prepare letters and other correspondence in relation to student administration;
Collaborate and liaise with colleagues from other Faculties, Schools and Central Administration sections on specific student and academic administration enquiries.

The position reports to the Coordinator, Student Administration and is based at our Herston Campus, UQ’s core campus for clinical health teaching and research.

Our Ideal Candidate

Alongside the completion Certificate IV or Diploma level qualification, and/or 2 years relevant experience, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Commitment to and enthusiasm for the provision of excellent customer service;
High level verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated effective problem solving skills through negotiation to enable operating in a cooperative team environment;
Proficient computer skills; particularly Microsoft Office and the ability to become an effective user of new computer systems;
An empathy with and ability to communicate with students and staff, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing position at a Professional HEW Level 4.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $65,424 - $69,453 plus super contributions of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $76,547 - $81,260.
