The primary role of this position is to assist in the ongoing delivery of the School Based Apprenticeship & Traineeship Program and assist in managing business and industry partnerships to maximise opportunities for secondary students.

About Hervey Bay State High School

Hervey Bay State High School has approximately 1355 students and provides quality education for both male and female students in years 7 to 12. Because of our unique location and resources, we are able to offer a wide curriculum including marine studies, information and communication technologies, agricultural science, Vocational education Programs, traineeships and apprenticeships, first year university subjects through the University of Southern Queensland, as well as the full traditional range of subjects.

Your Role

As the Industry Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for assisting students with their school to work transition. This role encompasses traditional work experience/placement, School Based Apprencticeships & Traineeships as well as TAFE courses and alternative pathway options such as Get Set for Work. You will be required to form partnerships between the school and business groups, source opportunities for students and provide a high level of client support. This role is service-orientated and dependent on face-to-face contact with students, employers and the business community. Whilst this position liaises with Deputy Principals and and HODs, the Industry Liaison Officer has a brief to work independently and with initiative.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Source Australian School Based Apprenticeships (ASBA) opportunities for prospective students by actively seeking opportunities for student placements in industry and potential School Based Apprenticeships.
Promote and market the benefits of the schools technical model to potential employers and other stakeholders and position School Based Apprenticeships as a career pathway preference for students within the region.
Develop and maintain relationships with employers, training providers and apprenticeship support agencies.
Form connections and develop partnerships between school and employers that will assist students to transition to employment and make effective career choices.
Source vocational training opportunities for prospective students by actively seeking opportunities for student placement in transition to work programs.

When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
