Research Specialist - UQ Protein Expression Facility

The Protein Expression Facility enables researchers to deliver scientific excellence, develops innovative solutions in protein technology for the bioeconomy and fosters the next generation workforce in biomanufacturing. About This Opportunity

You will provide recombinant protein production research capabilities using a range of expression platforms at the Protein Expression Facility. The capabilities include molecular engineering, protein expression, purification and protein analytics and characterisation. You will establish and develop effective relationships with researchers and be responsible for training and supervising professional staff and students in protein production. For appointment at HEW Level 6 you will lead and expand the capabilities of the facility and manage the day-to-day operations and ongoing projects relating to protein production.

Our Ideal Candidate

You should possess a degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. You will have demonstrated proficiency in recombinant protein production, and in using one or more expression system is essential. Your demonstrated ability in data analysis, record keeping, report writing and presentation of research results make you an ideal candidate for this role. For appointment at HEW 6, applicants should possess a degree in a relevant area with subsequent relevant work experience and have demonstrated ability to design, execute and manage research projects. What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for 2 years at HEW 5 or 6, appointment level will be dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.

The full-time equivalent base salary for HEW 5 will be in the range $70,796 - $78,852, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $82,832 - $92,257. The full-time equivalent base salary for HEW 6 will be in the range $80,784 - $86,768, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $94,517 - $103,619.
