The ideal candidate will be able to conduct a standards-based assessment, progress monitoring, and instructional guidance involving student interventions, accommodations, and enrichment. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and excellent time management as well as a team approach. Applicants should be experienced using a variety of technology, online education platforms, pedagogical strategies, and teaching approaches such as hybrid, blended, and synchronous/asynchronous learning.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

  • Teaches and acts in accordance with doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Understands and appropriately teaches the curriculum of the Diocese of Orlando.
  • Assesses student progress in accordance with Diocese of Orlando approved procedures.
  • Knows, teaches, and acts consistently in accordance with the mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies and procedures of Melbourne Central Catholic High School.
  • Works with the teaching staff and school counselors to assure that the school identifies students with learning needs and that these students receive appropriate follow-up services.
  • Assists teachers with classroom accommodations when students are struggling in a regular education setting.
  • Receives referrals from teachers and counselor for assessment of learning needs.
  • Works with the administration to develop Student Support Plans for identified students.
  • Works with students to set individualized learning goals.
  • Monitors student progress and gives frequent and specific feedback toward goal achievement.
  • Teaches individual or small groups of students according to learning needs.
  • Directs tutoring of identified resource students.
  • Maintains paperwork recording evaluation of goals established and dates completed.
  • Attends parent/teacher/administration conferences.
  • Analyzes test data, classroom work, homework, and anecdotal reports from teachers to evaluate the success of identified student plans and adjusts as necessary.
  • Remains current on research in the field and delivers new practices or approaches to staff.
  • Communicates with the county and public/Title I entities as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of community services and resources; develops partnerships with parents, businesses/organizations, and other agencies in order to build awareness, develop support, and share resources.
  • Provides leadership and vision to ensure continuous organizational development and improvement.
  • Collaborates effectively with families, teachers, and the community for the purpose of planning, developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating educational services and/or programs.
  • Communicates information on programs, services, and regulations to school personnel, parents, and the Board for the purpose of understanding of the program.
  • Coordinates with outside agencies to provide services to students and staff, for the purpose of offering appropriate services.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding developing ESE issues, changes in the laws and case law, and educational methods of educating students with disabilities, for the purpose of managing an excellent ESE program.

Ancillary Job Functions
  • Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support, conveying information, and complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Serves as school representative for IEP meetings as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education And Experience
  • Master's degree in Education, Education Administration, or related field from an Accredited College or University.
  • Minimum of five years' experience working directly with students.
  • Education administration experience preferred.
  • Current Florida Teaching Certificate.
  • Previous experience in a Catholic school setting is preferred.
  • ESE Certification and experience preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment.
  • Ability to lift at least 15 pounds.
  • Includes balancing, carrying, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, reaching, stooping, talking and walking.
  • Ability to see items close.

Work Environment
  • Work is performed mostly in an office setting.
  • Employee may be required to work more than 40 hours including occasional evenings and weekends and do extensive computer work.
