About the opportunity:

We are seeking multiple Degree Qualified Educators to join our casual pool and assist us with ensuring we maintain our excellent standard of service, while meeting regulations relating to ratios. Within this role, you will provide high quality early childhood education and care, develop long lasting relationships which will support families and our community, and provide ongoing support and assistance to the service Director as required. At Kids Uni, we pride ourselves on our child-focused philosophy and practice of keeping children and families at the centre of all we do.

This role will see you covering staff absences and periods of leave across our four centres. We have two centres based at our main Wollongong campus in Gwynneville, one centre at our Innovation Campus in North Wollongong, and one centre located in Wollongong CBD. You will have the ability to work across any of these centres on short notice.

Key Aspects & Accountabilities:
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  • NESA accredited teacher as either Provisional or Proficient.
  • Experience working with 0-6 year olds in an Early Childhood setting.
  • Hold a current cleared Working with Children Check.
  • Hold a current HLTAID004 - Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting qualification, including certification in managing anaphylaxis and asthma.
  • Demonstrate capacity to form responsive and nurturing relationships with children and strong partnerships with families.
  • Show the ability to use purposeful, intentional teaching and demonstrated teaching skills to scaffold, support and respond to children’s learning and to guide children’s behaviour.
  • Have a strong knowledge of the Regulations, the National Quality Standards and the Approved Learning Framework.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to incorporate aspects of the Circle of Security approach into daily work with children.
  • Demonstrate high level of problem solving skills, including confidence in reacting to unexpected operational issues through to resolution.
  • Be a team player who is reflective, open to change and keen to continue to learn and develop.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs for children aged 0-6 that reflect the Early Years Learning Framework, that meet all requirements of the National Quality Standards and are based on current research and practice.
  • Guide and support the team including providing leadership and mentoring to Certificate III and Diploma trained educators.
