Your role


As a Counsellor you will work with the team to provide a full range of individual and group counselling services to students and participate in the delivery of the service group programs.


In this role you will…


  • Provide psychological assessment, diagnose and evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals.
  • Determine appropriate psychological treatment intervention and care planning based on psychological diagnostic.
  • Utilise evidence-based methodologies including behaviour and cognitive therapy and systemic intervention and embed trauma-informed and client-focused therapies.
  • Facilitate referral process to external agencies to identify strategies to help individuals cope with a range of psycho-social issues.
  • Develop and implement preventative psycho-educational workshops, webinars and programs for students and staff.
  • Provide consultation and liaise with academics and relevant stakeholders at University.

We are looking for someone with…


  • A relevant post graduate qualification and eligibility for registration as a clinical or counselling psychologist in Australia or equivalent professional status in a related discipline consistent with International Association of Counselling Services (Inc) guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments and to apply counselling interventions for a culturally diverse tertiary student population.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of students.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communications skills, including computer literacy.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Eligibility for a Medicare provider number
  • Experience in the tertiary education sector, including development and delivery of group programs to staff and students (desirable)
