About The Team

The Office of the Vice-Chancellor comprises a small professional team that support the Vice-Chancellor and the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor in their leadership and management of the University to realise the University’s mission. The Office comprises the Vice-Chancellor, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Chief of Staff, and a small team of professional staff.

About The Opportunity

As the appointee, you will provide professional and high-level administrative support to the Vice-Chancellery. You will work closely with members of the Executive, Heads of School and the broader University community and will be responsible for providing advice on a range of issues including those which may be sensitive and confidential. You will also support the University’s committees within this portfolio and play an important role in facilitating the coordination of University’s governance committee papers.

You will have an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of university policy and you will be required to apply that knowledge on a daily basis, to analyse key issues in detail and provide innovative solutions to complex enquiries across the university and wider community.

To Be Considered For This Role, You Will Demonstrate
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial and extensive senior administrative experience
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, and a demonstrated ability to determine long term planning, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and problem solve across a broad range of issues
  • Excellent demonstrated ability to carry out high level research and write reports
  • Substantial and detailed knowledge of higher education policies, procedures, and structures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high-level consultation and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
