Key points

We seek a qualified industry expert with a passion for educating students and apprentices to contribute to the development of a series of learning modules in the Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. You will work collaboratively to develop content and assessment items for units of competency that will be delivered using blended learning. This is an opportunity to lead in the design of content, assessment and curriculum for a new qualification.

Expertise required is Teaching Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration UEE32211

Contract arrangements are flexible depending on availability and your qualifications (between 20-40 hours, fixed term).

$50.00 per hour plus superannuation.

Must haves

• 5+ years of practical experience in the industry. 

• Hold one or more of the following unit qualifications (or their equivalent/s)

    • UEERA0007 Apply safety awareness and legal requirements for flammable refrigerants
    • UEERA0084 Service and repair self-contained flammable refrigerants air conditioning and refrigeration systems
    • UEERA0048 Install and commission flammable refrigerant air conditioning and refrigeration systems
    • UEERA0005 Apply safety awareness and legal requirements for ammonia refrigerant
    • UEERA0065 Repair and service ammonia refrigeration systems
    • UEERA0046 Install and commission ammonia refrigeration systems, components and associated equipment
    • UEERA0067 Repair and service secondary refrigeration systems
    • UEERA0006 Apply safety awareness and legal requirements for carbon dioxide refrigerant
    • UEERA0066 Repair and service carbon dioxide refrigeration systems
    • UEERA0047 Install and commission carbon dioxide refrigeration systems, components and associated equipment
    • UEERA0068 Repair and service self contained carbon dioxide refrigeration and heat pump systems

• Knowledge and experience in teaching and participating in content delivery within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) for apprentices.

• The ability to articulate technical information in a concise and clear manner. 

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and autonomy.

Desired criteria

• Hold Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent.

• 3+ years’ experience with teaching, writing and assessing HVAC content for a VET provider.

Role/responsibilities:

• Develop, source and adapt appropriate learning resources including written content and images for identified units of competency to support the newly updated HVACR qualifications.

• Produce storyboards (written documents compiling learning resources) in collaboration with learning designers.

• Participate in design workshops to provide subject matter expertise (SME) to determine course outcomes, assessment and content relating to practical skills and knowledge necessary for current industry practice.

• Work closely with learning designers and teaching staff to co-design and create innovative online learning experiences.
