  • Salary Package: Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A step 6-8) from $95,706 to $102,570 per annum, plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Appointment Type: Full-time, Fixed term for 3 years

THE ROLE

The Role

An exciting opportunity to join the newly created ARC Centre of Research Excellence in Synthetic Biology within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our new SynBio program to develop and apply new tools for the quantitative analysis of molecular processes in living cells. The position is located at Macquarie University will be provided opportunities for unique career and leadership development by working across inter-disciplinary aspects of chemistry, biology and engineering together with our well-established research leaders.

The Centre pursues both fundamental and applied research projects. Its investigators have a strong track record of publications in the top journals and of licensed patents.

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or similar);

  • Training in one of the disciplines relevant to Synthetic Biology; specifically knowledge on the glycosylation pathways and the ability to analyse the product glycoconjugates in the cell.

  • Exposure to other disciplines or willingness to cross discipline boundaries;

  • Very good publication record commensurate with experience.

  • Communication skills to support supervisors, postdocs and PhD students across multiple disciplines;

  • Experience and skills in co-supervising postgraduate students on successful research projects;

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a broader team;

  • Highly motivated by problem-solving research (applied sciences leading to the solutions to the key problems in the field)
