THE ROLE

Macquarie University is seeking a transformational leader to take on the newly created opportunity of Head of Technology Services within MQ Information Technology. The Head of Technology Services leads the development and delivery of a holistic view of the technology and infrastructure interests of the University, which includes outlining the university's technological strategic direction, implementing technology strategies and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the business and links the university’s mission, strategy and processes of the University to its IT strategy.

You will lead a large Technology Services team through change and transformation of services, working in close collaboration with senior Information Technology colleagues to ensure strategic alignment.

You will be a highly experienced leader with extensive industry knowledge and an understanding of the latest trends and industry developments in technology, specifically in infrastructure, communications, networking, end user computing and cloud computing.

You are a strategic thinker with a track record of being creative and innovative, developing effective solutions and you will have the ability to manage related risks. You are passionate and skilled in driving technology driven efficiencies and effectiveness and building high-performance teams to deliver these outcomes with a strong service focus.

Highly collaborative in your approach, you build positive working relationships with both colleagues and stakeholders to achieve strategically aligned outcomes.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A strategic thinker with extensive industry knowledge and an understanding of latest trends and industry developments in technology, specifically in infrastructure, communications, networking and end user computing.
  • Significant tenure working in a technological role encompassing detailed expertise in virtualised environments, networking, infrastructure and end user computing.
  • Experience in executive technology decisions making, including managing large teams of technology specialists, technology budget and making investments to align the company with their vision for its technological needs.
  • Experience to investigate, identify and analyse key issues and the associated alternative, benefits and costs to develop practical solutions.
  • Track record of being creative and innovative, developing effective solutions and the ability to manage related risks.
  • An effective communicator and an expert in technologies in complex hybrid environments with a substantial track record of excellent managerial experience.
