About the opportunity

Do you have a passion for training and developing others? We have a unique opportunity for an experienced and suitably qualified Learning and Development professional to join the team at Alcoa’s Wagerup Refinery!

Reporting directly to the Human Resource Manager; this position optimises activities to support the business plan and overall efficiency for the location.

Key activities and challenges are:
Leading and managing the training function for site, including transactional requirements up to strategic training for leaders.
Providing functional leadership in the deployment of standard training methods and measures across the location, in the areas of safety, process, mechanical, business improvement, interpersonal, mobile skills, technical, apprentices and traineeships.
Supervising a small team of multi-disciplined Training and Development Coordinators in coordinating or delivering training processes to site.
Coordinating our Process Operator Trainee program to build operator talent.
Sharing and implementing best practice processes across WA Operations.
Ensuring that training processes align to WA Operations standards and legislative requirements and are correctly deployed into the operating areas.
Holding accountability for measuring the health of training within the refinery and facilitates continual improvement in the pursuit of operational excellence.
Designing, developing and facilitating learning and development programs.
Providing strong leadership ensuring continual improvement and achieving consistent high standards at all levels.
Working with a network of L&D Consultants and training support functions across multiple locations to ensure the Refinery transfers best practice initiatives.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

Sound experience in implementing practical approaches to workplace improvement.
Working knowledge of Training systems will be desirable.
A proven educator with facilitator abilities and understand training related directions at a National Level.
Experience and knowledge of the Bayer process will be highly regarded.

Ideally we'd like you to possess a relevant university degree or diploma, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is also a requirement.
