About Student Engagement in the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL)

The Student Engagement team works to provide our diverse student populations with an experience beyond the classroom that is vibrant, engaging and value adding. We work with students to provide additional services and experiences from the day the students start until the day they hold their degree in hand. We help students explore new horizons, develop new skills and make lifelong memories along the way.

Your new role

The Faculty of Business and Law are looking for an experienced Project Officer to join their successful Student Engagement team, working with the Director, Student Engagement and Dean Learning and Teaching in this fixed-term HEPPP funded contract role. As the Project Officer, you will provide, high level administrative and operational support to a project team and assist with the development, coordination, and implementation of project deliverables. Specific projects include but are not limited to Faculty Outreach to Regional High Schools, incarcerated student support and engagement and the Regional, Rural and Remote (RRR) Strategy. The role will specifically support students from equity and disadvantaged groups, RRR, and Indigenous cohorts, engage with and progress through undergraduate business studies.

In this role you will

Provide project and administrative support, including planning, tracking reporting, quality management and communications.
Coordinate the content, publishing and distribution of the reports and other documentation, as requested and required.
Resolve operational problems and assist in the development and implementation of initiatives, processes and systems for effective and efficient administration of the project.
Assist in identifying impacts and risks associated with the project and report on and support the Project Lead with the management of these.
Build relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders and service providers, including High Schools, Prisons Services, and industry groups.
Undertake preliminary research and data analysis and collate information required for project activities.

We are looking for someone with:
Completion of a relevant degree; or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to organise time and work activities according to priorities and to meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people and with cross cultural sensitivity.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise correspondence and documentation.
Proven ability to work well in a team, including respecting difference, leading, supporting others, accepting direction, and working to group goals.
Strong research and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-moving work environment.
Previous experience working on HEPPP funded projects (desirable)
