Brisbane Catholic Education is a learning community of over 145 schools. We aim to provide quality teaching and learning outcomes for Prep to Year 12 students.

About the role

As part of the Learning and Teaching team you will provide specialised advice and expertise in literacy teaching practices. In this role you will demonstrate your understanding of evidence-based practice in literacy teaching across the curriculum and confidently support and engage in effective dialogue with teachers, Education Officers and leadership role holders. This is a part time fixed term vacancy (parental leave replacement), days negotiable.

Responsibilities
  • Design and facilitate online and face-to-face professional learning
  • Design a range of resources to support the understanding and teaching of literacy
  • Provide specialist expertise in literacy and work in schools to support the implementation of BCE's effective and expected practices for the teaching of literacy
Qualifications
  • Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications in literacy
  • Current driver’s licence
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • an understanding of Literacy as a general capability and understanding of and experience with teaching the Australian Curriculum;
  • experience using a range of collaborative capacity building strategies to work with leaders and teachers to build leadership and teaching knowledge and skill;
  • ability to articulate and demonstrate literacy teaching practices that support students to effectively communicate in curriculum contexts;
  • experience with the assessment, monitoring and analysis of literacy, especially reading and writing;
  • ability to establish productive working relationships in a variety of contexts;
  • Primary, Secondary and/or P-12 teaching experience.
