This is a ten (10) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2021

Albany Senior High School seeks to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Program Coordinator - Student Services (Differentiation) with outstanding interpersonal skills to provide effective leadership in differentiation, positive support and student engagement across the school.

The Program Coordinator will lead the development, review and implementation of the Students at Educational Risk Plan at Albany SHS. The successful applicant will support staff in the delivery of teaching and learning for students with disabilities (diagnosed or imputed) or who are disengaged, by building partnerships with teachers, parents and external agencies and ensuring reasonable adjustments and alternative programs are provided. As well as being instrumental in leading targeted intervention programs to ensure the individual learning needs of every student are being effectively catered for so they reach their potential.

The successful applicant will ideally have effective leadership qualities including the capacity to strategically lead evidence-based improvements, and to build and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and a range of agencies and service providers. An extensive knowledge of disabilities and evidence based approaches will be highly desirable in order to lead and manage the implementation of tiered interventions, pastoral care, targeted support and development programs for students. These strategies are integral to enhancing student engagement to ensure high social, emotional and educational outcomes for all students.

The successful applicant will ideally possess a high level of understanding of the case management of students that includes knowledge of effective intervention, monitoring and reporting strategies. They will provide direction and purpose to staff, build team capacity and cohesion and promote an environment of positive quality learning experiences for all students across Albany SHS.

Role:
• Mentor and support teachers to write Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Review and refine allocation and rosters of Education Assistants (EA's) and AIEO's to support teachers and students.
• Complete performance management processes for all Education Assistants.
• Oversee ASDAN delivery and moderation processes.
• Support transition processes and post school pathway planning for students.
• Source and promote Professional Learning to groups of staff to enhance their capacity to cater for the needs of students with a disability.
• Coach staff in their development of differentiated teaching and learning pedagogies and curriculum.
• Work collaboratively with the School Psychologist and Program Coordinators Student Services, on interventions for students at educational risk.
• Initiate and liaise with visiting teachers to establish appropriate support for staff in catering for student need.
• Oversee maintenance of Individual Disability Allowance applications and accuracy in consultation with the School Psychologist and external agencies.
• Develop programs to engage students at educational risk due to disability.
• Work collaboratively with the Deputy Principal in reviewing and refining approaches to NCCD planning, monitoring and accountability.
• Undertake a teaching role depending on the needs of the school.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • complete the Department's training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
