The Opportunity

A Research Fellow in Meat Microbiology responsible for conducting a research workplan providing science-based information to Australian red meat processors, developing predictive models for shelf life of meat, investigating the potential mechanisms of microbial spoilage in vacuum-packed meat and communicating relevant information and reports to funders and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:
Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
Undertake high-quality research/scholarly activities to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level A.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

A PhD degree in molecular biology or food microbiology.
Knowledge of, and practical experience in, molecular microbiology techniques and use of bioinformatics tools and analysis methods.
Knowledge of, and practical experience in, culture-based bacteriological methods.
Outstanding written communication skills


Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A and will have a total remuneration package of up to $108,076 comprising base salary within the range of $71,443 to $92,373 plus 17% superannuation.
