JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Primary responsibility for training and pastoral care of Basic Physician Trainees accredited with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
  • Primary responsibility for organising teaching and training activities for basic physician trainees including but not limited to the tutorial programme, examination preparation programme, trial examination etc
  • Ensure that trainees are able to meet the training activities and requirements put forward by the RACP
  • Overall supervision of basic physician trainees monitoring their progress and arranging any remediation needed.
  • Counselling of trainees on various relevant matters such as examination performance and career planning
  • Participate in the statewide process for the selection of trainees into the Basic Physician Training programme
  • Orientation of Basic Physician Trainees to the programme and to hospital
  • Organising and completing the assessment processes of Basic Physician Trainees as required by the RACP
  • Selection of Education Supervisors to support the trainees
  • Briefing and support of Education and rotational supervisors on their roles vis a vis physician trainees.
  • Selection of Chief Medical Registrars
  • Lead role in allocation of annual roster rotations for Basic Physician Trainees such that it meets the rotational requirements outlined by the RACP
  • Maintaining familiarity of all training requirements and changes to the training programme put forward by the RACP.
  • Briefing trainees and supervisors of any new training requirements and assessment processes put forward by the RACP.
  • Organising of the RACP annual clinical examinations when held at Central Adelaide Local Health Network.
  • Participation as an examiner in the clinical examination when held at Central Adelaide Local Health Network.
  • Ensuring that the hospital meets all the accreditation standards of the RACP for basic physician training.
  • Preparing the hospital for accreditation site visits by the RACP
  • Member of the Medical Education Committee and other relevant committees
  • Participation in meetings and activities organised for Directors of Physician Education by the RACP
  • Collaboration with Director of Physician Education at RAH and the Deputy Director of Physician Education RAH in planning all education and training activities.
  • Collaboration with Directors of Physician Education of other networks to develop activities that have statewide application.
  • Advocating for training and education at various fora in the hospital and the state.
  • Other activities pertaining to education and training that arise from time to time

Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. (Applicant must be at least two years post award of FRACP). Registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority with Specialist Registration.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and compliant Immunisation screening.
