About the School

St Michael’s Grammar School is one of the leading co-educational, independent schools in Australia, providing exceptional learning opportunities to students from Kindergarten to Year 12. St Michael’s Grammar School was established by the Anglican Community of the Sisters of the Church on its current site in 1895.

The role

We are looking for a Learning Assistant to assist in the implementation of the teaching and learning programs, working with students with additional learning needs within classes and developing adjusted teaching and assessment materials.

This role provides in class support to Years 7 to 10 and one on one support for a Year 11 student taking iVCAL. The successful candidate will also be required to provide occasional support in the Junior School to assist a Year 4 student.

This is a part time (0.75), fixed term position commencing ASAP in Term 2, 2021 until December 2021. The successful candidate will be required to work 28.5 hours across five days.

The successful applicant will:
have post-secondary qualifications in working with students with additional learning needs
have relevant and demonstrated experience in similar roles
have experience working with students with learning needs, such as ASD, ADHD and Specific Learning Disabilities
display a genuine interest in the area of Additional Learning Needs and respect for the potential of all children
possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and interact with both adults and students
have high level verbal communication skills
work independently but also as part of a dynamic, creative and collaborative team.
be willing to be involved in all aspects of the School’s program
have a current Anaphylaxis Management certificate or willing to obtain this prior to commencement
hold a current Employee Working with Children Check or willing to obtain this prior to commencement
have a National Police Check (obtained within the last six months)
