The Opportunity

The Business Manager, NIDA Melbourne is vital to the continued and effective support of NIDA’s Studio venue and short course market in Melbourne. Responsible for supporting new opportunities, ensuring exceptional customer service, providing operational support and upholding NIDA’s core values across all areas of NIDA programming and activity in Melbourne.

With a focus on the management of the NIDA Melbourne venue in Southbank, external venue hire and local relationship building, this role will also collaborate with the Sydney based NIDA Open and NIDA Corporate management teams and the Melbourne based programming team to ensure the effective operational delivery of NIDA Melbourne activity, which includes a significant program of short courses and events for Open and Corporate.

As a key member of the operations team for the open access programs of NIDA, the Business Manager, Melbourne contributes to nation-wide departmental operations including supporting payroll, Learning Management Systems, data and financial systems management in close collaboration with senior operations specialists and departmental leadership in Sydney.

Rostered evening or weekend work may be required for up to 8 weekend days per year which will be compensable as in Time in Lieu. Additional hours of work up to five days per week may be required during peak delivery periods such as school holidays or major events, negotiated in advance and compensable at the award rate. This role also requires flexibility to travel to Sydney for short stay training and operational meetings at least once per quarter.

About You
Tertiary qualifications in arts management, business or education and/or equivalent arts or cultural industry-based work experience.
Experience providing relevant and informed operational support to a program of arts, community or education programs.
Experience working in an administrative management role, effectively supporting and motivating a team of permanent and casual employees.
Leadership and self-management experience to achieve financial, administrative and programming targets in a timely manner.
Experience managing events and conferences.
Demonstrated, high level ability to analyse and report on sales results, operating expenditure, and customer feedback, and compile information into high level reports.
Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management.
Advanced skills and proficiency with office computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, CRM and finance packages.
Demonstrated willingness to embrace organisational change including use of technology and an ability to analyse and problem solve in the context of change and continuous improvement.

Salary (TRP)

This position is part-time (4 days per week) at the pro rata salary of $71,302.70 inclusive of 9.5% Superannuation.
